Born in Budapest, RCHTR. turns electronic music into a space to express his inner world and to shape every moment of life into sound. With « AINT NO GOOD », he delivers a nocturnal, enveloping house track that invites listeners to let go. In this interview, the artist looks back on his beginnings, his creative process, the origin of his stage name and his plans for 2027.
Hello RCHTR., and thank you for taking the time to sit down with us for this interview! Before we get started, could you introduce yourself in a few lines for those who don’t know you yet? Where are you from, how old are you, and where do you live today, for example?
RCHTR. : I’m RCHTR. I’m 27 years old and I’m from Budapest, Hungary. I’m an electronic music artist, and I use music as a way to express what’s going on inside me and turn different moments of life into sound.
How did you get started in music? What was the turning point that made you want to become an artist?
RCHTR. : I’ve always been drawn to electronic music. At some point I realized I wanted to put my own feelings and experiences into music and create something that feels truly mine. For me, it became a form of self-expression and self-realization.
What inspired you to write « AINT NO GOOD » ? What was the starting point behind the track?
RCHTR. : I just found a sound that immediately inspired me and put me in the right mood. From there, everything came naturally: the track basically built itself around that feeling.
Tell us about the music video! Where was it filmed (or how was it created)? What message or emotion did you want to convey through it?
RCHTR. : The video follows the same feeling as the track. It’s about the night, letting go and getting lost in the moment rather than trying to explain everything. I wanted it to capture the atmosphere and emotion behind the song more than tell a literal story.
We noticed that you’re not really present on social media. Is that an artistic choice, or do you simply prefer to focus on the platforms you feel are most important?
RCHTR. : I’m mainly focused on TikTok at the moment. I prefer to put my energy into the music and use social media where I feel I can connect with people naturally.
What are the last three songs you listened to today, and no cheating!!
RCHTR. : Silva Bumpa – « Swagger Sound », Silva Bumpa – « Fantasy », Oliver Heldens – « Bunny Dance »
Is there a recent news story or current event that has stood out to you more than the others?
RCHTR. : Sziget Festival in Budapest definitely stood out to me this year. It came close to not happening, but it was saved, and seeing it come back in August with such an amazing atmosphere was really special, especially as someone from Budapest.
By the way, why « RCHTR. » ? Does your artist name have a particular meaning?
RCHTR. : It comes from my family name, Richter. I wanted to turn it into something shorter and more distinctive, so RCHTR. felt like the right fit.
What do you think about the arrival of AI in the music industry? Friend or foe? Why?
RCHTR. : I see it more as a tool than a friend or a foe. If you use it creatively, it can open up new possibilities, but I think the human emotion and personal experience behind the music will always be the most important part.
What are your goals for 2027 as an artist?
RCHTR. : I want to reach more people with my music and keep developing my own sound. Most importantly, I want to keep releasing music that genuinely represents where I am at that moment.
One final word before we wrap things up? If you could send a message to the people discovering you for the first time today, what would it be?
RCHTR. : Don’t overthink it. Turn it up, get lost in the music, and see where it takes you.
